Cheap rose wine, often known as Blush wines or simply Rosé, is a wine that is not truly red, but possesses enough reddish tinge that makes it assuredly not white. The color variations depend on the grapes used. Cheap rose wine often tends to be more orange than purple or pink. Rose wines are produced in a number of ways, according to the desired results. Most Rose wines are produced by crushing red grapes used early on. Thus, the grapes cannot impart their color or much tannin, to the wine produced. In most respects, the cheap rose wine is white in character and flavor. Only the slight tinge of red bears a justification of the name and some subtle differences in taste hint at the uniqueness.
Cheap rose wine is generally looked down upon by the wine connoisseurs. But to others, the crispness and lightness of the rose wine brings about a refreshing change in hot weather. Thus, cheap rose wine has also come to be referred to as summer wines. Styles of rose wine vary hugely. In general, this wine is simpler than the heavyweight red or white wines, even if produced with the same grapes. Rose wines from Europe are normally dry, while those from the United States taste sweet. The distinction is often highlighted by referring to these sweet varieties as Blush.
The White Zinfandel, largely popular in California is one among the most sought after varieties of cheap rose wine in the recent years. Instead of the traditional method of blending red and white wine or crushing the grapes before the color leeches into the wines, White Zinfandel is produced following the exclusive practice, known as bleeding. While bleeding, an ample amount of the liquid is removed to make the resulting wine stronger and concentrated. The lighter, less tannic remainder is packaged and sold as a premium quality rose wine, namely the White Zinfandel.
